Taylor takes on Showdown at CAR
Jeff Taylor was in Casa Grande, Arizona, on the fourth weekend in November to compete in the IMCA Modified portion of The Showdown at Central Arizona Raceway (CAR). He left the 3/8-mile oval with a pair of top-15 results.
Taylor didn’t take part in his heat race, B-Main or the 25-lap, $1,000-to-win feature in the 31-car Friday opener, instead taking to the track on Saturday as part of a 33-car field.
He drove his Kansas City Outlaws No. 5 Modified to eighth in his Saturday heat after hitting grease and making wall contact with the right front as looked to pass for the lead. He fought a tight condition while advancing from 16th to sixth in his B-Main, then started 22nd in the 25-lap, $1,000-to-win feature. This time his car was too free, but he still picked up seven spots to come home 15th.
On Sunday, 31 Modifieds were at CAR for the $3,000-to-win finale. Taylor didn’t transfer via his heat race with a sixth-place finish, but used a runner-up result in his B-Main to start 19th in the 25-lap main event. He needed a bit more balance in the feature, however, he again moved forward and finished 14th.
