Cade Dillard

Dillard second in DIRTcar Nationals prelim at Volusia Speedway Park

With Monday’s opener postponed midway through the program, Cade Dillard returned to Volusia Speedway Park (De Leon Springs, Fla.) on Tuesday for the second round of the 53rd annual Federated DIRTcar Nationals.

Backing up a third-place finish in his heat with a top-five run in the feature, Dillard passed seven cars in the 25-lapper to cross the line in fifth. He chased Devin Moran, Ricky Thornton Jr., Kyle Bronson, and Max Blair across the line.

With the 48-car field split into three groups on Wednesday, Cade qualified third-fastest in his group before placing second in his 20-lap preliminary.

Later that night for Monday’s rescheduled A-Main, Dillard rolled to a consistent third-place finish, trailing Bobby Pierce and Tim McCreadie across the line.

Keeping his streak alive on Thursday with 18 consecutive top-10 finishes to start the 2024 season, Cade climbed four positions in the 35-lap feature to register a 10th-place finish.

On Friday, Dillard stormed into the $16,000-to-win A-Main with a heat race victory. After leading the opening 14 circuits, Cade got turned around while running third on lap 33 that relegated him to 11th in the finishing order.

Saturday’s 53rd annual Federated DIRTcar Nationals finale fell to wet weather.

Cade is currently fourth in the latest World of Outlaws point standings.
