Driver Information

Matt is a 24 year-old race car driver residing in Elmvale, Ontario and a graduate of the Automotive Business School of Canada powered by Georgian College

Matt competes in the Formula Vee Challenge Cup open wheel racing series, which is designed to be inexpensive while promoting driver development. Matt is also proud to be partnered with the “Laps for Muscular Dystrophy” Campaign in support of Muscular Dystrophy Canada.

A Passion For Motorsports from the Beginning:

Born in a small Ontario town called Phelpston (just outside of Elmvale), Matt was brought up in a rural hard-working community. When Matt was 14 years old he knew he wanted to get into racing so his grandfather (Gilbert) took him to the Innisfil Karting Track for the day where he caught the bug for all things motorsports. After this first trip, Matt found himself at the track almost every weekend of the summer, striving to improve his race craft and fuel his passion.

Matt began karting at tracks across Ontario and was extremely passionate about the sport, because of this hard work and dedication he ended up being successful with his endeavors. In 2012, the Canadian Karting Club was offering a sponsorship deal with FELdrives.com to compete for an entry level fully sponsored ride in the Canadian Formula 1200 series. Matt was awarded this great opportunity and found himself thriving in the new series, 2017 marks his sixth year competing in an open wheel Formula car series.

With several podiums and close finishes under his belt, Matt won his first Formula Vee Challenge Cup Series race in 2015 at Pittsburg International Raceway, it was apparent that the hard work and dedication was paying off with his successful results. In 2015 Matt was the official test driver for WutFun Racing in the teams Mazda Miata during the Canadian Touring Car Championship Series. That same year he earned the 2015 Challenge Cup Championship, along with a second consecutive 2016 Challenge Cup Championship.

In 2017, Matt and his MGR team concluded a hard fought championship battle in the Runner-Up position.
