Oberkramer captures MLRA Rookie of the Year honors at Tri-City

With Mother Nature washing out Friday’s opener, Mason Oberkramer invaded Tri-City Speedway (Granite City, Ill.) on Saturday afternoon to wrap up the Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association (MLRA) slate with the MLRA Championship. In a field of 25 cars, Oberkramer ran into motor issues during his time trial session, forcing him to pull out his secondary car for his heat race. Losing a throttle linkage on the opening lap that ended his race early, Mason locked into the 25th-starting position for the $7,000-to-win A-Main. Coming three spots shy of a Top-10 finish, Mason Oberkramer advanced through the field 12 spots in the 50-lapper to record a 13th-place outing. (Todd Boyd photo)
