Bagley charges to CCSDS Magnolia victory

Pockets $5,000 for Eighth Career CCSDS Triumph

LONGVIEW, Tex. (09/03/24) – Morgan Bagley earned a $5,000 victory with the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) at Magnolia Motor Speedway on Sunday evening, turning in a strong effort that also brought him within just 23 markers of the points lead.

The driver of the P&W Sales No. 14m Precision Trailers / FK Rod Ends / XR1 Rocket Chassis / Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model was the fifth different leader of the 40-lap feature as he took command on lap 25 and paced the final 16 circuits.

Bagley’s triumph marked his second of the season and the eighth of his career with the CCSDS.

“I just snuck up there, stuck to my gameplan,” Bagley said. “It worked out once before for me here. It’s been a long time, but … we’ve been working, we’ve been staying after it.”

Bagley opened Sunday night at the tough 3/8-mile oval in Columbus, Mississippi, with an 18th-place qualifying effort in a 26-car field. He then maneuvered his No. 14M Super Late Model from sixth to third in his heat race, positioning him ninth on the grid to start the 40-lap main event. He quickly worked his way forward in the feature and became the race’s sixth different leader with a pass of David Breazeale on the inside of the backstretch on lap 25.

Bagley led the rest of the way and took the checkered flag 1.326 seconds ahead of Sam Seawright. Brian Rickman, Jeremy Shaw and Kyle Beard completed the top five.

Bagley's win was the eighth CCSDS triumph of his career, his second series victory this season, and his second feature victory overall in 2024.

The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series had originally planned on contesting a Labor Day weekend doubleheader in the Magnolia State. However, Saturday’s scheduled $5,000-to-win All-American 60 at Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram was rained out.

The team is slated to return with the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series in two weeks for a doubleheader event in Arkansas and Oklahoma. Friday’s opener on September 13th at Two Dollar Pistol Motor Speedway is followed by Saturday’s $5,000-to-win finale at Arrowhead Speedway.
