Inside Line Promotions – SPENCER, Iowa (Oct. 3, 2019) – Justin Henderson returns behind the wheel of the Mike Sandvig Racing No. 7 this weekend for two nights of action at the 32nd annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires.

I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., hosts the ASCS Mid-South Region doubleheader on Friday and Saturday.

While this will be the duo’s 26th and 27th races together in the 2019 season, it will mark their first attempt at 360ci winged sprint car competition. Henderson has competed in several 360 races this season in his family owned race car, but up until this point had only piloted the Sandvig car in 410 sprint car competition.

Together they are hoping to add their names to the prestigious list of past winners and capture the $10,041 winner’s share for Saturday night’s finale.

“I’ve been running one of Mike’s motors all year in my own 360 deal so I feel pretty comfortable coming into this race,” Henderson said. “We switched frames a few weeks ago and the car has been extremely fast so I think we’re pretty well set up to compete.”

Henderson made his first ever Short Track Nationals start in 2012 when he finished 12th. His last visit came in 2013. With 50-plus drivers currently pre-registered for the crown jewel event and more expected to show up, Henderson knows he has his work cut out if he wants to capture the win.

“I really like I-30 and way back in 2012 when I ran there we were fast right out of the box,” he said. “But there are a lot of other drivers who want the same thing we do and who are competing as well so it’s going to be a fun challenge.”

While the prestige of the event and the money on the table make the race a ‘bucket list’ event for Henderson to win, he is only focused on winning for his car owner and to give him a triumph in their maiden season together.

“Sure, it’s a big race and it would mean a lot to win it, but honestly I just want to get a win for Mike,” he said. “He’s supported me a lot this season and I really want to give him a win as an owner in 2019. The fact that it might be at a prestigious event would just be a cherry on top of things.”
